Featured 10.22.18-10.28.18 | Let’s say you were going to the electric chair (for a crime you didn’t commit, obviously), what would you eat for your last meal? We oddly think about this a lot, and while it truly is a culinary Sophie’s Choice, here’s what we know: There would be pizza and there would be cupcakes. And if can be picky, we’d like Candace Nelson to make them both. For those of you who don’t know who this foodtrepreneur is (yes, we made that word up just now), she’s the super sweet brains behind the world’s first-ever cupcake bakery, Sprinkles, a former judge on the Food Network’s Cupcake Wars, a current judge on Netflix’s Sugar Rush and (maybe our favorite of her accolades), the person responsible for bringing what we consider to be the best pizza on the planet to LA (one more reason to move there), with her new restaurant, Pizzana. And if that isn’t enough to convince you that she’s more than worthy of our death row meal prep, here’s what makes her even more of a foodie maverick: After moving to America from Indonesia (where she lived until high school), she went on to work NOT in food, but in investment banking. Yes, that’s right — she went from investment banker to baker of edible happiness. We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty sure she wins for best career move ever.
