Featured 8.19-8.25.19 |If you walked into luxury event planner Colleen Kennedy Cohen’s London flat on a sunny Sunday afternoon, you might be greeted by the sounds of French indie pop mixed with the aroma of a summer berry galette baking in the oven, all set against the refreshingly minimalist aesthetic of her home’s decor. And just like that, you’d get a full-body understanding of Cohen’s particular brilliance: Creating immersive experiences designed to engage all five senses. Her track record of being able to achieve that on a larger scale — while keeping everything beautifully on brand — has earned her some big-name fans. She’s managed events in-house for Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Cartier and goop (This is the woman responsible for designing Gwyneth Paltrow’s gorgeous and unmistakably goop-y wedding to Brad Falchuk in 2018. NBD). Instrumental in developing the overall events team at goop, Cohen was the natural choice to lead the development, design and execution of In goop Health, the brand’s bi-annual wellness summit. Because maybe we didn’t mention it, but she’s also a certified holistic health and wellness coach. In fact she was her own first client when, In 2012, while working in the fashion industry in NYC, the stress and crazy work hours started to catch up with her. Getting trained in holistic living practices put her on the path to better health and has continued to pay dividends, helping her make healthy food choices for herself and her two young children. It also opened her eyes to the importance of moving toward a more sustainable lifestyle to help protect our oceans and our planet for future generations. In addition to supporting environmental causes (Parley for the Ocean and 1 % for the Planet), she continues to make small changes to go plastic-free. Another priority when it comes to her kids? Exposing them to other cultures, which definitely factored into the decision to move the family to London a few months ago. Cohen (a Chicago native) and her husband (a Tennessean) have already planned several trips to take full advantage of their newfound proximity to some of their favorite European spots as well as places they’ve not yet visited. A woman deeply giddy in love with the expat lifestyle, it looks like the world really is her oyster. Welcome to Colleen's week.
