It only takes one look at my Instagram to see that I have a slight addiction to wearing colorfully patterned dresses, often. I love a statement piece and have never really adopted that all-black wardrobe that so many New Yorkers claim to be their uniform. Outfits affect my mood and I like to keep things both comfortable and cheerful.
I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop wearing dresses, but lately I have been alternating a lot more with various looks that make me feel cool and powerful, like jumpsuits, wide leg cropped pants and suits. These haven’t always been things I’ve felt like I could pull off with my body type, but thank God with age comes confidence. Now, I don’t care if something isn’t “flattering” to my short legs — I’m never going to look tall and skinny, but I can love my clothes regardless of my body shape.
A few pieces I’m loving at the moment:
I own this jumpsuit in two colors, pink and gray. It's a little embarrassing at my age that it's from Urban Outfitters, but I get compliments every time I wear it (including at the Vogue offices, the most legit place to get approval for your outfit). It's such an easy outfit to throw on and be ready, and you can't not feel happy in a bubblegum-pink jumpsuit!
I bought these jeans this winter and have been wearing them non-stop ever since. They were great with heeled booties and a blazer when it was cold, and now I’m loving them with a sandal and a casual tee for spring.

Being on the short side, I do love to wear a heel because it always makes me feel just a little more powerful. But I have to be practical — I cannot be running around in a stiletto or a two-inch platform without serious consequences (once you’ve taken a tumble down the subway stairs in front of a crowd of people, you quickly learn your limits). I have a pair of red patent leather Valentino Garavani pumps with a low block heel that make me feel instantly more polished every time I wear them.
