Since I spend most of my days at home cooking, I rely on jeans (J Brand or Madewell), cozy James Perse t-shirts, and big, thick woolen hiking socks in winter, which are great for padding around the kitchen. Add a pair of metallic clogs to the mix and you’ve got my weekday, at-home-Brooklyn uniform, sturdy and perfectly machine washable.

When I do have to go into work, I’ll opt for a casual but professional look — a cashmere sweater from Zadig & Voltaire paired with Steven Alan pants, a simple Tucker blouse and jeans and a pair of Rag & Bone boots or slides from Coclico, or a wrap dress by Velvet.

And for more formal occasions, like the Ring Cycle at the Met that my husband and I just attended in May, my Helmut Lang leather leggings are more comfortable than dresses and look very chic, especially when paired with a beaded vintage top or a silky blouse from Soeur and my Prada suede slingbacks.
