Featured 6.17-6.23.19 | Sometimes you meet a person and it just clicks. Sometimes that happens later in life and if you’re really lucky, that person becomes someone you can’t believe you ever lived without. So goes my relationship with Mike Doyle. Yes, this may be more love letter than is appropriate for a public forum, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention how much I love him up front, because in addition to being a really good actor (Law & Order: SVU — have you heard of it?, Narcos: Mexico, The Romanoffs and the new Kevin Bacon series, City On A Hill, so there’s six degrees of Kevin Bacon, too. Oh, and he trained at Julliard in case you were feeling underwhelmed), kick ass writer and director (his first feature film, Sell By, premiered at the Inside Out Festival in Toronto), he’s a really, really good friend, and in my book that’s way more important than any of his myriad achievements. In fact, his sense of humor, his total sense of calm and his Virgo-generated attention to detail (plus the fact that he’s not terrible to look at) all had me at hello. Also, he’s smart. And not just your average kind of smart. A grad of Georgetown University (economics —  what?), he won the calculus achievement award two years running in high school (I guess that’s where the econ came from?), and can finish the Saturday New York Times Crossword Puzzle. Yes, I said finish. So, yeah, he’s that smart. Fortunately for you, though, you don’t have to take my word for any of this, because you’re going to get to spend the next seven days with him. And if you don’t fall at least a little bit In love with this amazing human, I’ll give you your money back.
Welcome to Mike Doyle’s week.
