W+B | BEACHY HAIR DO CARE

Having not been born in Malibu, nor been given the gift of particularly good hair, I have learned — the hard way — that while sun, salt and chlorine might work for some, they definitely do NOT work for me. Instead of being one of those girls who can dip in the ocean, tousle their mane and go, I am instead one of those girls who can dip in the ocean, spend two hours untangling the mess and then spend the rest of the day slathering deep conditioner on top of serum on top of clarifying shampoo. But regardless of which kind of beach-goer you are, summer does a number on even the healthiest of heads. I’ve spent the last 8 weeks trying out some serious summer hair saviors, and here are the ones I think actually make a difference and can turn straw to silk in a matter of minutes.

1. Color Wow Cocktail, Bionic Tonics
$25 each
I know that people have long lauded the Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray for literally destroying frizz and blocking any humidity from reaching you locks, and it’s a product that REALLY works so you should get it ASAP. But what I’m here to talk about are the Bionic Tonics they suggest using on towel dried hair to restore your hair to its virgin state. There are three, but I’m partial to the Coconut and the Kale Cocktails which I started using a week ago and may never, ever stop dousing myself with. The Coconut lubricates the outer layer of your hair with a whole bunch of good stuff (coconut oil included) turning it back into your pre-summer hair without weighing it down. The Kale Cocktail strengthens and promises to reduce breakage immediately with protein and sea kale. Use them together for some serious first aid.

2. Oribe Power Drops Damage Repair Booster
$58
A few drops of this serum and the next thing you know, any damage done by styling tools, environmental aggressors, chemical treatments and our fave tress killer — the sun — is instantly reversed. It’s got a ton of nutrients, biotin and sea kelp extract among them, and it prevents color fading, too.

3. David Mallet Hair Serum
$80
It took three years and 27 formulations before Parisian stylist David Mallet was satisfied with this serum, so you can imagine how perfect it is. It’s moisturizing AF but won’t weigh your hair down, plus it makes your hair shine like nobody’s business.

4. Davines OI All in One Milk
$35
I spray this milk on my hair religiously after the shower and I love how soft, shiny and smooth it makes my hair without weighing it down.

5. Christophe Robin Brightening Hair Finish Lotion
$40
I’ll do anything if it promises to brighten anything, and this clarifying, hydrating and repairing spray not only promises, it delivers. Fruit vinegar removes impurities and makes hair shine while chamomile extract hydrates and brightens and both work together to bring your hair pH levels back to normal.

6. Rahua Omega 9 Hair Mask
$58
I love a hair mask, and this one, chock full of goodness in the form of sunflower seed oil, quinoa and rahua oil (plus plus) minimizes frizz, promotes healing (that’s the quinoa talking) and softens like crazy.

7. Moroccan Oil Restorative Treatment
$43
I’ll be honest: I have spent a lot of time in Morocco and have never, ever seen this product sold anywhere there, so I can’t vouch for its authenticity, but I can tell you that it smells really, really good and makes my hair feel pretty damn good after leaving it on for only a few minutes.
